Gigi Gorgeous Details “Breakdown” After Nats Getty Breakup
Gigi Gorgeous knows that life doesn't always feel camera-ready.
The YouTuber got candid on the challenges she's faced in her personal life this month following her breakup with Nats Getty after six years of marriage.
"I was trying to film a video yesterday—I just had a huge life change in my life—tried to film the video, set up the lights, set up the camera, and then I had a breakdown," Gigi shared at the Create & Cultivate festival in Los Angeles, where E! News was present July 19. "I was like, 'What is going on with me?'"
And as an influencer, Gigi (real name Giselle Loren Lazzarato) said it's an "everyday struggle" for her to navigate life in the public eye.
"You just need to keep reminding yourself to stay fearless, because you're always more worried about what people think of you than they're really even caring about [it]," she said on the panel. "And it's so easy to get lost in that warp cycle."
As a result, the 33-year-old has developed a new mindset to remind herself of her value.
"You just have to lay down the law and be yourself and be like, 'I don't care what people think,' but it's so much easier said than done. And I struggled," she continued, later adding, "It's just a constant 'I don't give a f--k mentality.' And we got this. I got this. I'm one of one, and that's the empowering moment behind that."
Gigi also recently made a change in her self-talk habits.
"I stopped talking bad about myself, to myself," she explained. "Whenever I'm like, 'I am ugly, I am stupid,' I will actively try to stop saying those things about myself, because as funny and silly as it can be, it really does affect how you view yourself."
Instead, the trans activist tells herself affirmations like "I am a prize, I am special."
"It really boosts your mood," she shared. "Because even if you don't feel pretty or super smart or you feel dull that day, it retrains your mind, because every day is a new start. We are in control of what our day is going to be, so it helps."
Gigi—who married Nats in 2019 in Montecito, Calif.—announced July 3 that she and the Getty heir had "amicably decided to part ways."
"While they have decided to end their marriage," a rep told E! News at the time, "they remain friends and have the [utmost] love and respect for each other."
